Classic Car Outings 2024

Now in its fourth year, our Tea, Cake and Triumphs afternoon is held in our back garden. We had a 30-mile run starting from Attleborough. Yet again the weather was perfect and we ended up with around 30 Triumphs parked up in the back garden. The car of the show must have been the 1937 Triumph Dolomite, which coped well with the run and was admired by all. We raised just under £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A couple of local shows with just us attending. First up was a small gathering of classic cars at Thompson Community Hall. A venue we’d meant to pop along to all summer. This was the last one of the season, so an extra effort was made. A very friendly crowd that started chatting as soon as we arrived. Unfortunately, the next car to arrive and attempt to park up next to us, a 1930s Austin, reversed into the Herald giving it a bit of a dent. This, in spite of a number of people shouting stop! A great shame, but it’s been a long time a lot of miles without a dent and things could have been a lot worse.

This didn’t stop us from poping into the second event of the day, just down the road from us at Broom Hall for a spot of lunch. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

When we received a request from Graham, AO for TSSC Leicester and Rutland, for them to meet up with the Norfolk lot during their trip to Norfolk how could we refuse? There were two runs, one from the Roman Camp Inn near Cromer (where L&R were staying) and the other from the Market Place in Dereham. Both runs came together at Walsingham. We had a couple of stop points, Creake Abbey and Binham Priory before arriving at Holkham Hall. We had a dedicated arrival at the South Gate followed by a two-mile drive through the estate ending with exclusive parking in front of the hall. A great turnout of Triumphs which created quite a bit of interest from the public.
