Drive It Day, Sunday 27th April 2025

And so it begins! First outing of the year, set up ready for the influx of Triumphs and other classics for Drive It Day tomorrow. We’re the only ones on the campsite so it’s going to be a peaceful evening. The following day we were joined by plenty of Triumphs on the Drive It Day Treasure Hunt we had organised with Bircham Windmill being the lunchtime get-together.

New Year Brunch Run, Sunday 5th January 2025

A wet and miserable Sunday morning for our New Year Run gave Norfolk members a great chance to show how hardy they are. We had nine Triumphs and three moderns at the Wymondham start of the run to Wroxham Barns, where we were joined by another big Triumph, a lovely sounding ‘65 Thunderbird, and those that didn’t want to miss out on a good social in their moderns. A great turn out of around 40 on what was a rather drizzly day.

North Norfolk Weekend, Wednesday 11th to Monday 16th September 2024

When we received a request from Graham, AO for TSSC Leicester and Rutland, for them to meet up with the Norfolk lot during their trip to Norfolk how could we refuse? There were two runs, one from the Roman Camp Inn near Cromer (where L&R were staying) and the other from the Market Place in Dereham. Both runs came together at Walsingham. We had a couple of stop points, Creake Abbey and Binham Priory before arriving at Holkham Hall. We had a dedicated arrival at the South Gate followed by a two-mile drive through the estate ending with exclusive parking in front of the hall. A great turnout of Triumphs which created quite a bit of interest from the public.

Triumph Herald at Holkham Hall

Thompson and Broom Hall, Sunday 1st September 2024

A couple of local shows with just us attending. First up was a small gathering of classic cars at Thompson Community Hall. A venue we’d meant to pop along to all summer. This was the last one of the season, so an extra effort was made. A very friendly crowd that started chatting as soon as we arrived. Unfortunately, the next car to arrive and attempt to park up next to us, a 1930s Austin, reversed into the Herald giving it a bit of a dent. This, in spite of a number of people shouting stop! A great shame, but it’s been a long time a lot of miles without a dent and things could have been a lot worse.

This didn’t stop us from poping into the second event of the day, just down the road from us at Broom Hall for a spot of lunch. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Tea and Cake afternoon, Sunday 18th August 2024

Now in its fourth year, our Tea, Cake and Triumphs afternoon is held in our back garden. We had a 30-mile run starting from Attleborough. Yet again the weather was perfect and we ended up with around 30 Triumphs parked up in the back garden. The car of the show must have been the 1937 Triumph Dolomite, which coped well with the run and was admired by all. We raised just under £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

TSSC Summer Run to Mannington Hall, Sunday 11th August 2024

Another run was organised by fellow TSSC members Andrew and Gill. We missed their Spring Run due to a prior commitment, so we’re looking forward to this one. While it wasn’t as hot as it had been, it was just the right temperature for a drive out. We even managed to get the roof down. Starting from Wymondham, we had a 30 mile tulip route to Mannington Hall with 13 other Triumphs, sometimes bunching up and sometimes with just the TR6, with a solo driver, that was following our lead. It was also great to have some new members along too.
Mannington Hall is not somewhere we would have thought of going to, but it made a great end to the run along some great roads. Andrew and Gill did a great job organizing the route. A great day.

North Norfolk Railway ’60s Weekend, Friday 19th – Sunday 21st July 2024

Our third trip up to North Norfolk in four weeks. This one with the caravan pitching up alongside the railway for their 60s weekend. We arrived on Friday afternoon and after getting things set up, including our “Carry On” shower and sign, headed up to the pub with two other couples for a very nice meal and a couple of pints. Both days were scorchers, and it was great to spend the weekend sitting in thevan talking to visitors. Numbers were down from previous weekends, which did make it more of a rest. Sunday saw the arrival of a few scooters, always a bonus for me.

North Norfolk Vintage Transport Festival, Sunday 7th July 2024

One of our favourite shows. The past few years we’ve taken the caravan and stayed over. This year, though, we decided to have a Triumph area. We had 13 Triumphs booked in, with a nice area reserved for us. Unfortunately, the heavy rainfall in the days leading up to the event meant that the field was deemed too damp to hold the car show on. So cars ended up being parked wherever there was a space, which was a great shame, but, with the reduced train fairs and nice weather, the day was still enjoyed by those that attended.

TSSC Fish and Chip Run to Cromer, Thursday 4th July 2024

The TSSC annual Fish and Chip Run to Cromer with five of us leaving Dereham to convoy up to the clifftop car park where we were met by a further seven Triumphs and a Morris Minor (and a “Love Bus”). Once parked we had our usual walk down to No1 for fish and chips and then back up to the cars for a bit of a natter as the sun set. It was great to welcome some new members too.

Inter-Club International, Malvern, Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June 2024

Being a 300-mile round trip, I’m not sure if we would have made the effort for this one if it wasn’t for me being on TSSC CoM. If we’d known how many traffic jams there were we definitely wouldn’t have! It took us around six hours, including a lunch stop. Once there, we queued up at the entrance for over an hour waiting to get in. But the Herald copped admirably. Once in, we were soon directed to where friends were camping. Friday evening saw us at the bar where we met up with some Norfolk folks, Colin, Trevor and Clare. We were joined the following morning by another Norfolk couple, Shaun and Jane. Norfolk members are getting out and about.
We were booked in on the Saturday morning for stewarding duties, namely helping out with the auto solo. It did at least pay for our entrance.
Saturday evening saw us back at the bar. There was a band playing, but they were a tad too noisy for the barn they were playing in, but made for some nice background music while sitting outside.
On Sunday we were invited to go into the show ring and, as it was just before we planned on heading off home, hitched up and took the caravan around.
Thankfully, the drive home wasn’t quite so bad, only taking four hours. Still a very long way to go for a weekend.
